An Agreement Is Signed By IIT Roorkee And IIT Bhilai To Advance Tribal Research And Protect Indian Knowledge Systems

To improve their academic and research cooperation, the Indian Institutes of Technology in Roorkee and Bhilai, or IIT Roorkee and IIT Bhilai, have signed an MOU. This strategic partnership prioritises research on traditional medicinal plants, tribal culture studies, agricultural practices in tribal regions, and financial literacy among tribal populations. It also aims to preserve and promote Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and contribute to socio-economic development in tribal areas.
Professor K K Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Professor Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, signed the Memorandum of Understanding at IIT Bhilai.
According to an institute statement released in this respect, the collaboration is a major step towards raising youth understanding of Indian culture and heritage and is in line with the Government of India's ambitious vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The institutes further stated that the relationship will actively promote the goals stated in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a particular focus on the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems into the educational framework.
Along with developing projects on sustainable and rural development, ancient Indian science, fintech, health science, agriculture, artificial intelligence, complementary and alternative medicine, life management, environment, renewable energy, food processing, tourism management, languages, peace and conciliation, music, humanities, and common interest, both institutions will share knowledge and promote Indian culture and knowledge systems as part of the agreement.
