Diwali

Episode 1: "World Supervisor Mode ON!"

Every Diwali starts with one inevitable tradition in every Indian household: The Great Diwali Cleaning Mission. The moment you think you can chill and enjoy, your mom’s voice echoes, “Beta, Diwali aa rahi hai, ghar saaf kar le!” Suddenly, you're promoted to the world supervisor of the cleaning department by the CEO of the house—your mom.

Mom: "Utho beta, kapde badlo, safaai karni hai!"
Me: "Mujhe kyun bula rahi ho? Bhai ko bulao na!"
Mom: "Riya  short hai, tu tall hai. Fans aur cupboards saaf karne ke liye tu hi kaam aayega!"
Me: "Oh, toh height ke wajah se mujhe Diwali ka Cleaning Victim banaya ja raha hai?"While you're on top of the ladder cleaning ceiling fans, your dad enters with his managerial attitude, supervising every move.

Dad: "Arey beta, zara woh kone wala spider web bhi nikal do!"
Me: "Papa, main safai kar raha hoon ya building ka maintenance?"

Episode 2: "Sister Ka YouTube University"

While you're busy dusting your existence, your sister is in a different zone altogether. She's on a mission to make the best desserts for Diwali after watching every possible tutorial on YouTube University.

Sister: "Arey bhai, dekh! Maine Instagram pe 1-minute easy rangoli reels dekhi hain. Ab main rangoli expert hoon!"
Me: "Tu rangoli expert kam, rangoli disaster zyada lag rahi hai."
Sister: "Kuch nahi hota! Humare desserts aur rangoli dono best honge!"

Deep down in my heart “ But ye competition ho kaha raha hein?”

But let's be honest, your sister's so-called desserts taste like "shakkar ka namkeen pakoda" and the rangoli looks more like a bhool-bhulaiya.

Episode 3: "Dad Aur Unki Antique Mirchi Lights"

Diwali ki lights ka naam le lo, aur papa ke dil mein bajti hai purani Mirchi Lights wali tunes. Unko kabhi nahi chhodenge. No matter how old or useless they become, they always have faith in those lights.

Dad: "Beta, dekho toh sahi, yeh mirchi lights ab bhi chalengi!"
Me: "Papa, yeh light kab ka short circuit kar chuki hain. Ab inko rest in peace bol do."
Dad: "Nahi, bas ek light badal lo, chalu ho jaayengi."
Me: "Papa, agar yeh lights bol sakti, toh sabse pehle woh kehti, 'Mujhe retire hone do!'"

And yet, after multiple efforts, the lights flicker for a second and then go dead again. But dad never gives up hope.

Episode 4: "Maa Ka Multitasking Masterclass"

Amidst all the chaos, your Mom is the unmatched multitasker. She’s cleaning, cooking, giving instructions, and judging everyone's work with her laser focus.

Mom: "Beta, zara woh kone wale diye theek se laga do. Aur haan, mithai tayaar ho gayi kya?"
Me: "Maa, main ek hi time pe teen kaam kaise karoon? Main insaan hoon, octopus nahi!"
Mom: "Beta, jo insaan mujhe mila tha, usne bhi yahi bola tha, lekin dekho aaj kaise multitasking champion ban gaya!"
Me: "Wah Maa! Diwali pe sirf safaai ka hi nahi, emotional damage ka bhi intezaam hai!"

Because let's face it, moms have a PhD in keeping you on your toes while serving you a side dish of savage comebacks! 😆

Episode 5: "Sab Kuch Set, Happy Ending!"

After all the torture and never-ending cleaning, the day of Diwali finally arrives. The house is shining, lights are glowing, sweets are (kinda) tasty, and your family is together.

Me: "Bas yaar, ab toh humne cleaning ki duniya jeet li hai."
Sister: "Aur dekho, meri rangoli bhi decent lag rahi hai."
Dad: "Aur mere mirchi lights bhi chalu hain!"
Mom: "Tum log kuch bhi bolo, lekin Diwali pe ghar saf aur sajna hi chahiye."

At the end of the day, even though it's the same lights, food, and crackers every year, there’s no better feeling than celebrating Diwali with your family. Despite all the struggles, everyone laughs, eats together, and feels the warmth of the festival.

Conclusion:

That’s how Diwali really is—a mix of chaos, laughter, and love. Because no matter what, ghar ki safai se lekar rangoli tak, sab kuch tabhi special lagta hai jab family saath ho.

Let the lights shine, the sweets be sweet (even if they aren't perfect), and may all the mess be worth it in the end! Happy Diwali!
