The World University Rankings 2024 by Subject have been issued by Times Higher Education (THE) today. In four areas—physical sciences, engineering, computer science, and life sciences—the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has become the nation's leader. Within the Physical Sciences, IISc Bengaluru was ranked between 201 and 250.
The University of Cambridge, Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and California Institute of Technology are the next best universities in the world.
IISc Bengaluru ranked highest in the India region but in the 101–125 rank range in the engineering ranking. Harvard University is at the top of the ranking worldwide, followed by Stanford University, MIT, University of Oxford, and University of Cambridge.
Two universities, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the University of Delhi (DU), are placed between 501 and 600 in the arts and humanities category. The top three universities on this list, according to global rankings, are Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and University of Cambridge.
In the 401–500 range, Jamia Millia Islamia was ranked highest in the India region for business and economics. The top three universities in the world were Harvard University, Stanford University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
