Education News
On Tuesday, 3rd September 2024, Honourable President Droupadi Murmu underscored the necessity of promoting research in the education system and asserted that research scholars in India can identify solutions to the challenges the world and the country face. Addressing the 21st convocation ceremony at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in Pune, she observed that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 stimulates research.
The President, in her address, encouraged students to strive for excellence, emphasising that true achievement is not measured by material possessions, but by the impact one makes on society. She expressed confidence in the youth's dedication to the country's development, acknowledging the abundance of talent and skill in the nation.
"I want you to understand the requirements of society and use your knowledge, come up with solutions that can help in the development of the masses, especially those who are marginalised, and it can encourage sustainability," the President said.
The President, in her address, urged Symbiosis University professors, faculty members, and alumni to play a pivotal role in promoting research in the education system. This, she emphasised, is crucial for the institution's academic growth and societal contribution.
The President noted that years of research lead to new inventions and provide new solutions to challenges, adding that multidisciplinary research centres are working in many areas, including water resource management, stem cell, nano-science, and climate change at Symbiosis University.
The President advised students to strive for excellence in every task. "You must have heard the saying 'Chase excellence and success will follow'. 'But many times, some people consider having more money, a big house, a big car, and other things as a sign of success," she said.
