More Than 3 Crore Students Have Registered For Academic Bank Of Credits: UGC
Education News
The University Grants Commission reports that around 3.17 crore students have registered for the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) thus far.
The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform has been joined by three crore students thus far, and the process is still ongoing. This is crucial for the National Credit Framework's smooth implementation, which gives students more options, according to a top UGC official cited by PTI.
The official said, "A student's credits will continue to be deposited in the bank if he completes any courses during his studies." Furthermore, 1693 academic institutions—universities and INIs—have registered on ABC as well. Of these 1693, 337 are independent colleges; 119 are institutions of higher learning in the central region; 54 are central universities; 15 colleges; 118 are universities by definition; 403 state universities; 396 private universities; and 22 other institutions.
More than 1 crore students were registered at the Academic Bank of Credits at that time, according to information released by UGC back in June 2023.
Using an appropriate "credit transfer" method, the ABC portal is a national facility that supports curricular framework flexibility and interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary academic mobility of students among Indian higher education institutions (HEls). This site will assist with HEI registration for the ABC scheme, student account opening, closing, and validation, credit verification, credit accumulation, student credit transfer/redemption, and stakeholder promotion of the ABC.
