Kerala SSLC Exam New Assessment Planning
Education News
In a press conference on Wednesday, 8th May, Kerala’s general Education Minister, V. Sivankutty, unveiled a pivotal plan for a new assessment system for the SSLC exam.
He declared that the minimum marks would be required for written exams. The students must score 30% (combined with written and continuous assessment) to pass the SSLC examination. This means that in the 100-mark exam, the students have to score only 10 marks in the written exam, and 20 marks will be allotted in continuous assessment.
However, the new evaluation system aims to establish minimum passing marks for the written examination from March 2025. Now, students must score at least 30% in each subject in written exams. This means that in the 40-mark test, 12 marks are required to pass, and in the 80-mark test, 24 marks are required to pass.
The proposed changes, which Education Exclusive fully supports, aim to establish a more robust assessment process in higher education. The ministers believe this initiative will raise the academic performance of SSLC students to a national standard, a significant step forward.
