CM Stalin’s Pudhumai Penn scheme benefited 2.73 lakh girl for Higher Education

According to an official announcement issued on Monday, May 27, around 2.73 lakh female students benefited from the Tamil Nadu government's Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme, also known as the Pudhumai Penn Scheme, which was launched by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in 2022.
This initiative introduced by the state government resulted in a 34% rise in female student enrollment in the state's higher education sector. The Pudhumai Penn plan intends to pay a monthly sum of Rs 1,000 to female students who have completed Class 6th to 12th in state-run schools and are pursuing higher education, the official statement said.
According to the statement, the Higher Education Department is building an auditorium at Chennai's Presidency College to be named after former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. The Rs 63 crore auditorium, which has a capacity of 2,000 seats and covers 5,500 square metres, is now under construction.
The statement also said that the state government's Naan Mudhalvan plan benefited more than 27 lakh students, and over 1.9 lakh students got government jobs. The state government additionally granted Rs 213.37 crore in financial aid to 28,601 students who benefited from the 7.5% reservation in professional degrees offered to those who attended government-run institutions.
Naan Mudhalvan informs college students about courses and industry-specific skill offerings that will assist them in obtaining training in their chosen field of interest, allowing them to fulfil their professional objectives.
