The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination(CISCE) discontinued the merit list for the class 10 board examination (ICSE) and class 12 board examination(ISC). CISCE Chief Executive and Secretary Joseph Emmanuel said that the council aims to foster a healthier educational environment. The board discontinues the merit list system to prevent "unhealthy competition” from the academic year 2023-2024.

The decision aims at the student's growth rather than focusing on competitive rankings. This decision has unleashed a positive phenomenon among students, educators, and parents. The change paves the way for more Holistic Educational Reforms, which will allow recognition of the diverse capabilities and well-being of students beyond mere academic achievement.

Education Exclusive supports this innovative initiative, representing a forward-thinking approach to Indian Education. The method will introduce students to new ideas. Education is about more than merely achieving test scores. It has much more to accomplish. Education Exclusive upholds similar ideals regarding improving Education.

Education is a journey, not a race, where every student's path is a unique and valuable educational system.”

The positive outlook:

  •  Education will focus on personal growth and learning rather than competitive mindsets.
  • It will reduce stress and peer pressure associated with ranking and comparison among students.
  • It promotes a supportive learning environment.
  • Encourages students to explore diverse interests and subjects without fear of grades.
  • Shifts the importance towards holistic development rather than solely academic achievement.
  • It helps develop resilience and perseverance as students learn to value progress over perfection.
