AI And Data Science Will Be taught In Himachal's Technical Colleges

On Sunday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that technical institutes in Himachal Pradesh would begin offering new-age degrees beginning with the upcoming academic year, including artificial intelligence, data science, and mechatronics engineering.
Sukhu stressed the need of being on the cutting edge of technological breakthroughs when presiding over a review meeting of technical institutes on Saturday night, according to a statement.
He said that starting in August 2023, the state government will introduce a variety of courses at various universities.
The Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme in Computer Science and Engineering with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science will be available at the Government Hydro Engineering College Bilaspur.
According to the announcement, both the Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have approved this programme.
Specialised programmes in computer engineering and mechatronics engineering will now be available at the Government Polytechnic Institutions in Rohru and Chamba, respectively. The chief minister stated that the AICTE has also approved these courses. Other courses will also be offered in the state's 17 industrial training schools to meet the changing needs of the sector.
According to Sukhu, these courses include Maintenance Mechanic (Chemical Plant), Mechanic Electric Vehicle, Technician Mechatronics, Fibre to Home Technician, Solar Technician (Electric), and Internet of Things Technician. Sukhu emphasised the value of hands-on instruction and requested partnerships with top businesses to provide students exposure to the working world.
