Established in 1949, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU) in Vadodara, Gujarat, is a sprawling institution that spans 275 acres. It includes one main campus and six satellite campuses. Named after the visionary Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, a champion of education and the arts, MSU continues to embody his legacy of fostering intellectual growth and advancing higher education.

Originally founded as Baroda College in 1881, it was renamed in 1949 to reflect its expanded role as a premier comprehensive university. The MSU campus elegantly combines historic charm with modern amenities. It features state-of-the-art laboratories, extensive libraries, hostels, and recreational facilities. Its library is among the largest in the region, offering a vast collection of books, journals, and digital resources.

MSU provides a broad spectrum of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels across its various faculties:

The university's emblem features a lotus growing out of a lake, a flame rising from the centre of the lotus, and a motto that defines the purpose of life.
