IIT Madras Pravartak Launches Intensive 12 Days Practical Training Experience
Campus News
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, in partnership with SWAYAM Plus, a renowned platform for online learning, is launching an exciting 12-day training program tailored for engineering students in mechanical, manufacturing, or production fields. This immersive experience aims to equip participants with essential industry-ready skills and offers placement assistance for top performers.
Running from 14 October to 26 October 2024 at the IIT Madras campus, the program offers a unique opportunity for hands-on training in digital manufacturing. This immersive experience bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the industry, and registration closes on 10 October 2024. Students will dive into key areas like 3D modelling, 3D printing, CAM, CNC programming, and machining, gaining practical skills that are highly valued in the industry. They will also explore the entire product development lifecycle, from prototyping to testing.
The Central Skill Training Facility (CSTF) at IIT Madras will provide valuable placement support, connecting final-year students with startups and leading companies in the mechanical and manufacturing sectors.
The program is designed with invaluable input from industry experts, and is a direct response to the skills gap between traditional engineering education and industry expectations. It features modules on modelling, digital manufacturing, and entrepreneurship. Professor R. Sarathi, Dean (Planning) at IIT Madras, has underlined the initiative's significance in India's national skills development movement, promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
With a hands-on approach comprising 80% practical training, the program costs just Rs 6,000 plus GST, making it an affordable investment in your future. Affordable accommodation is available on campus for Rs 650 per day, covering meals and lodging, ensuring a comfortable and cost-effective stay during the program.
The program is open to final year engineering students and graduates with a mechanical, manufacturing, or production background. It's designed to prepare them for roles in manufacturing, R&D, or startup environments, addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals. Supported by SWAYAM Plus, this initiative is in perfect alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), which promotes employability-focused, skill-based courses.
