IIT Placement 2024-25: IIT Madras & Kharagpur Exceptional Day 1 Results

Early reports from IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur indicate promising trends as the placement season commenced on 1st December at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These premier institutions exhibit exceptional performance in the ongoing placement drive despite previous apprehensions regarding students receiving inadequate compensation or needing help obtaining placements.

According to PTI, by the conclusion of Day 1 in Phase 1 of the 2024-25 placement process at IIT Kharagpur, students had already received an impressive 750 offers, including pre-placement offers. The highest bundle offered thus far is a staggering Rs 2.14 crore. Furthermore, 11 pupils were awarded compensation packages exceeding Rs 1.00 crore, and nine were extended international offers.

The PTI report also stated that prominent recruiters, including Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Capital One, have participated in the recruitment process. The roles available include software, analytics, finance, banking, consulting, and core engineering. Internship companies that visited the campus in July 2024 have also returned for the placement campaign. The interviews are being conducted in a hybrid format, with numerous companies opting for in-person interactions.

According to the source, IIT Madras has offered a record-breaking package of Rs 4.30 crore by Jane Street, a prominent Wall Street trading firm. This package, which encompasses relocation benefits, incentives, and base salary, has established a new standard for the placement season. Other noteworthy offers include packages exceeding Rs 2.00 crore from companies such as BlackRock, Glean, and Da Vinci. Databricks, Ebullient Securities, and IMC Trading have extended offers exceeding Rs 1.30 crore, while APT Portfolio and Rubrik have proposed offers exceeding Rs 1.40 crore. 

Prestigious recruiters, including Qualcomm, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric, Alphonso, and Nutanix, participated on the initial placement day. Although the initial high-value offers are encouraging, the placement season's success remains to be determined.
