IIM Bangalore Launches Exciting New BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship!

IIM Bangalore BBA Course

On 16th September 2024, IIM Bangalore   launched its BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship (BBA DBE) program in a virtual event featuring notable speakers. These included IIMB Director Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Mr K Sanjay Murthy from the Ministry of Education, Dr Devi Shetty of Narayana Health, Mr Mukesh Bansal of Curefit, and Professors Vasanthi Srinivasan and Mr Suresh Bhagavatula from IIMB.

Professor Krishnan highlighted IIMB's experience in digital education, stating the aim is to provide high-quality undergraduate education to students across India. He stressed the importance of integrating traditional business management with the demands of digital businesses for a rich learning experience for the initial cohort of over 1,000 students.

 

Mr K Sanjay Murthy discussed the government's vision for digital education, noting IIMB's influential role as a National Coordinator. He also emphasised the importance of platforms like SWAYAM in making education accessible, further showcasing IIMB's commitment to digital education.

 

Dr Devi Shetty called the launch a significant move toward democratising higher education in India, emphasising that graduates with digital skills will be highly valued in the job market. Professor Vasanthi Srinivasan identified four key competencies for future learners: critical thinking, collaborative learning, digital literacy, and communication. She noted that IIMB's digital platforms go beyond just content, equipping students with essential digital and life skills.

 

Professor Suresh Bhagavatula outlined the program's structure, emphasising a blend of digital awareness and core business skills. He explained that the curriculum comprises 30% on emerging digital technologies, 30% on traditional business topics, and includes an entrepreneurial mindset. The program features a mix of pre-recorded content, live sessions, offline exams, and community-building opportunities through internships with NSRCEL while adhering to UGC guidelines.

 

In his closing remarks, Professor Bhagavatula reiterated IIMB's unwavering commitment to developing talent that will drive significant digital transformations. This commitment is a testament to IIMB's vision and dedication to shaping the future of digital business and entrepreneurship.
