Philippines welcomes Indian medical Students!
Education News
The Philippines has announced a historic policy reform to significantly assist Indian medical students seeking MBBS degrees. The House of Representatives amended the Philippine Medical Act of 1959, allowing Indian and international students to register and practice medicine in the Philippines.
This significant development is a culmination of several years of persistent efforts from India to establish the Philippines as a leading global destination for medical education. The recognition of the Philippines as such is a testament to the quality of education and the opportunities it offers to medical students from around the world.
The Philippines has emerged as a rising star in the field of medical education, attracting aspiring doctors from all corners of the globe. It offers high-quality education at a fraction of the cost compared to Western countries, making it an attractive option for Indian students. The US-aligned curriculum ensures a seamless transition to overseas careers, which are further supported by a vast network of globally recognised residency programs.
According to the new provision, Indian students who finish their Doctor of Medicine degree from a Philippine College of Medicine recognised by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and a 12-month internship will be entitled to register and practice medicine in the Philippines. The CHED will issue the requisite certification to help with this procedure, enabling a smooth transition for Indian graduates.
With 64 fully approved medical schools in the Philippines, Indian students have an even stronger motivation to pursue their medical studies there.
