India Wins Gold At The International Olympiad For Informatics After A 9-Year Hiatus

A group of four students participated in the international informatics olympiads this year. It is among the top five science olympiads worldwide. For the past 22 years, India has participated internationally, and this year India took the gold medal, which is the first time in Indian history. After 2014, the Indian team won gold at the International Olympiad for Informatics twice before.

Four students from India competed and were awarded medals. Kshitij Sodani earned a gold medal, and Paras Kasmalkar, Shreyan Ray, and Sushil Raaja U won silver and bronze, respectively. Madhavan Mukund, the head of the Chennai Mathematical Institute, and Jatin Yadav from IIT Delhi led the group. 

30 students are chosen for the national round through a tough programming competition. Indian National Olympiad in Informatics (INOI) is the name of the national competition. Chennai Mathematical Institute hosts the national round. Three five-hour tests were administered during the selection camp. The programming competitions are on par with IOI level, and the Indian team is chosen at the camp level. The national olympiad and selection camp were held this year in February and June.
