IIT Madras Students Win The Njord Challenge 2023 Sustainability Award

The student team Aritra from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) came in third overall and took home the Sustainability Award in the recent Njord Challenge 2023 competition, which was held at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Norway. In addition, they received a financial award of 10,000 NOK (Norwegian Kroner).
ABOUT THE PURPOSE
An autonomous ship must be designed and built as part of the Njord - Autonomous Ship Challenge, an original worldwide student competition. Teams are asked to bring their boats to the Njord in Trondheim, where they compete in a number of tasks and activities.
A competition is offered for students to encourage creativity and intelligent autonomy solutions for the marine sector. Students can network and further their professional development through the competition. Seven of the best worldwide teams participated in the competition, including one from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
