Dimples: The Charm That Changed My Smile

Students' Corner

Dimple on Face

Now that I have one, I believe that having dimples makes a person extremely cute and attractive, like me 😉 I said, 'Now that I have one,' that's because the God has been funny; thus, I took after Sasta Shahrukh (IYKWIM)😝.

Actually, I never cared about dimples until I got a glimpse of what puberty can do, on 22nd June 2012 at 08:15 am during morning assembly; that's the day and time when I saw her coming to the ground, MY GOD HOW CAN SOMEONE LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL IN A SCHOOL UNIFORM 😍! As she was passing by me, 'The Violins' were playing around me and KK was singing "Chand Mera Dill, Chandni Ho Tum" (Just like the 'Main Hoon Na' movie scene of SRK and Susmita Sen), except her name was Meghna. In those 20 seconds, I knew that God had sent her for me.

A few weeks went by, and I was talking to my best friend Namrata; she told me that Meghna likes tall and dark boys; thanks to cycling under Delhi's sun; I was the tallest boy in the class and was a little dark (imagine selmon bhoi in dark mode), I was on the ninth cloud when Namrata pulled me out of it by saying “Meghna loves dimple”, (Ye Saala Dukh Kahe Khatam Nahi Hota Be😭) dil ke hazar tukde huye the 💔. So for the next 2 weeks I was walking dead, SURPRISINGLY Namrata supported me like she never had a crush on me😅 (that's another story, stay tuned for that one), telling me she will not reject me because I didn't have a dent in my cheek (I didn’t realised that I was listing to the devil). This gave me courage, but I took more time to draw my way, cause I was little......shy🤭.

That time, my friends and I were playing with the fire 🔥. We would rub the pen's metal clip to the desk, and when the clip got hot, we would BURN others with it. So one day in the 4th period of Hindi, we all were playing that burn game, when Rajvi Ma'am came in, we ran back to our desks. In that lecture, I was planning my approach. Before that, the Devilish Namrata convinced me that burning my cheek with the hot pen’s clip will help me get a dimple. The innocent me was so lost in the thoughts of Meghna that I followed the path which the devil himself orchestrated and started to rub the pen for more than 15 minutes, then I looked at the devil and it gave me a thumbs up and I did what devil asked me to do. The movement I pressed the pen into my cheek, everything went dark, and one tiny tear rolled out of my eye. The pain was so immense that I even forgot HER. To trick me this may, I even tried to baptise Namrata’s devil in my own desi style. After my cheek healed completely, I was blessed with a boon, I got a small dimple 🥳. I was so happy with it that I thanked the devil and said “hain ab Meghna muje reject karigi bhi kese”.

So, ek dimple ke kiye mene ye "Agni Pariksha" di, after this, the plan was in motion, the 6th and 7th period were of sports, we all were in the ground, my eyes were locked on Meghna, and my team mate ACCIDENTLY threw the basketball near Meghna and…………………….
