From December 27 to 29, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee) held a national workshop on earth sciences. During the three days at IIT Roorkee, participants talked about current research trends, concepts, and key areas for additional study in the earth sciences.

The inaugural program at the MAC auditorium, IIT Roorkee, was attended by dignitaries, guests, and earth scientific professionals. Plenary talks, keynote addresses, and a broad range of oral and poster presentations were among the events held during the workshop, which gave a thorough overview of the most current advancements in the subject.

"In launching the national workshop on earth sciences (ESICET), the department of earth sciences at IIT Roorkee underscores its commitment to enhancing research and education since 1960," stated KK Pant, head of IIT Roorkee. As we start this workshop, it will function as a national forum for showcasing scientific discoveries, encouraging cooperation, and supporting the ongoing development of earth sciences in India.

Two notable guests of honor were also highlighted in the program: Rajeev Gautam, president of Hinduba India, and Prakash Chauhan, director of NRSC, who received their degrees from the department in 1986 and 1990, respectively.

For their outstanding academic performance, Yash Sanjay Kute (Integrated MTech Geological Technology), Akshay Kamath (Integrated MTech Geophysical Technology), and Simran Guleriya (MSc in Applied Geology) were awarded the ONGC Videsh Trophy.
