The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has introduced cutting-edge Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan Projects throughout Meghalaya to improve the state's educational environment. The scale of this initiative is significant, as it has already reached over 50,000 kids in 2,200 schools across the state.

As the sole IIT in northeast India, the institute has launched various innovative programs to improve education in Meghalaya. These programs emphasise advanced STEM learning and teacher development and are designed to provide a hands-on, experiential learning environment that benefits students and educators.

Speaking about IIT Guwahati's collaborative approach to uplifting the education landscape of Meghalaya, Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, said, “We are dedicated to using our resources and expertise to enhance the educational experience in Meghalaya, ensuring that both students and teachers have access to the best tools and methodologies. By providing cutting-edge equipment, comprehensive training, and continuous support, we aim to create an environment where learning is interactive, engaging, and effective.”

Jalihal said, “We believe that through these initiatives, we can significantly impact the quality of education in Meghalaya and set a precedent for educational excellence in the entire Northeast region.”

Under the Ministry of Education's Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan Projects, IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Meghalaya have joined forces to launch several state-level initiatives.
