Zanzibar, An IIT Madras Campus, Will Open In Early November: Pradhan Dharmendra

Early November is when the IIT-Madras offshore campus in Tanzania's Zanzibar island is scheduled to open, according to a statement made on Tuesday by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Minister made the declaration during an occasion when Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is now visiting India for four days, was awarded an honorary degree by Jawaharlal Nehru University.
"I'm glad that Zanzibar will host the first-ever IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) offshore campus. The Zanzibar campus of IIT Madras is expected to open early next month, I've been informed," the Minister stated. The last legal step that cleared the way for the campus was the signing of an agreement in July between Tanzania and India.
The institute will provide two full-time academic programmes: a two-year Master of Technology in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence degree and a four-year Bachelor of Science programme.
