Today, the Sony India Software Centre Pvt Ltd and the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation announced their agreement to provide engineering college students with industry-ready technical education.

Training will be provided in certain fields, including computer graphics, product security, and AI/ML, according to IIT-M. There is no fee for the program, and students will get stipends according to predetermined standards. About thirty candidates will be chosen for the Finishing School Training Program by Sony India and IIT-M Pravartak.

The training program's second batch is scheduled to start in the third week of January 2024. The application deadline is January 10, 2024. Applicants can visit the official website at sonyfs.pravartak.org.in for additional information.

An innovation hub for technology centred around sensors, networking, actuators, and control systems is housed within the Section 8 company IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation. It is hosted by IIT Madras and supported by the Indian government's Department of Science and Technology as part of its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems.

Balamurali Shankar, General Manager, Digital Skills Academy – IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, said, “This program was offered in 2023 in similar technologies. Most of the students got placed in top IT/ITES organisations and start-ups. We plan to extend this program in 2024 aiming to benefit deserving learners nationwide. This initiative aims to propel them forward in their chosen career paths by addressing the gap between the knowledge and skills of graduate students and the industry’s demands.”
