This year, the pandemic-related economic slowdown has affected the total number of jobs and wage packages offered to students at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). A week has passed since the IIT placements started.

While the average compensation for domestic work roles increased this year, some organisations that typically offer international job profiles to students only offered domestic roles this year or didn't offer any positions in some IITs during the 2019–20 placement season.

An average compensation worth more than Rs 12 lakh annually has been offered to 71 students, an increase of 10% from the previous season. This year's top employers were Amazon, Google, Microsoft, PayPal, Arista Networks, Texas Instruments, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Coal India Limited, Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, Steelwedge, Axtria, and Click Labs.

The first-time recruiters this year include Saavn, Yodlee, TinyOwl, Grofers, Practo, CouponDunia, Steelwedge, Axtria, Click Labs, RockON, BRDS, Anglo Eastern Ship Management, Indus Valley Partners, Coal India Limited, and SyberPlace.
