IIT-Madras Aims To Incubate 100 Start-Ups And Open A New School Of Multidisciplinary Sciences By 2024

By 2024, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) hopes to have at least 100 start-ups in its incubator spanning multiple industries. Professor V Kamakoti, the director of IIT Madras, shared the school's goals for 2024 and mentioned that they are excited to open a new school for interdisciplinary sciences.

"We are excited to open a new school focused on multidisciplinary sciences as well. Given that we are currently heading toward interdisciplinary education, it is crucial. The director continued, "We also aim to wrap up this fiscal year with as many initiatives as possible.

The Director stated, "The institute has initiatives and socially relevant projects for 2024," along with the fact that these new projects aim to assist the country, when unveiling the year's aims. 

An official statement stated that the IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC), regarded as one of India's leading deep-tech start-up ecosystems, serves as the institute's umbrella organization for fostering, assisting, and supervising a range of innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Saying that the institute saw a lot of ambitions realised during 2023, the director added: “In the past year, we took up several important projects including IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus, which became the first-ever IIT to be established overseas, launched a Department of Medical Sciences and Technology, and are aspiring to do many more things in this direction.”
