The fifth Aditya-L1 workshop, which lasted three days, was hosted on the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK). The workshop was co-hosted by the Aditya-L1 support cell of the Aryabhatta Observational Science Research Institute (ARIES), Nainital, and the physics department at IIT Kanpur.

The Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) Aditya-L1 Mission's science goals are supported by IIT Kanpur. The Aditya-L1 satellite was the first one to be launched in India with the purpose of studying the Sun, its atmosphere, and how it affects Earth. The workshop's goal was to instruct a select group of final-year undergraduate (UG), MSc, and PhD students in the use of the satellite's data.

For this workshop, 50 students were selected, of which 30 were from outside and 20 from IIT Kanpur and local universities. They were selected based on their academic performance in their respective courses. Aditya-L1 is a mission by ISRO, where a satellite has been launched to the Sun for the first time by India to study the Sun, its atmosphere, and its effects on Earth.
