Establishing A Chair Professorship At IIT-Bombay And Jindal Stainless Will Support Research And Innovation

Jindal Stainless and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will create a Chair Professorship at the university. This new chair aims to encourage and advance the study of stainless steel industry products and process technologies. 

An official announcement states that the renowned chair would be filled by a current, eminent IIT Bombay professor who has a strong record of research accomplishments. IIT Bombay's Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science will be used to choose the first Chair professor.

The chair professor is tasked with promoting PhDs in metallurgy and overseeing the addition of courses on the metallurgy of stainless steel and special steels to the current BTech and MTech curricula.  The Chair faculty is working to promote stainless steel applications among aspiring engineers by creating short-term academic courses and training modules.
