Alumnus of IIT Kanpur donates Rs. 41 lakh to Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology to support underprivileged patients

Gopal Sutwala, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur, and his family have given a donation of Rs. 41 lakh to help treat patients from the less fortunate socioeconomic groups at the upcoming Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital of the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology at IIT Kanpur.

The 500-bed Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital and IIT Kanpur struck an agreement to assist the establishment of a bay within a general ward designated for patients covered under various government health programmes.

Gopal Sutwala and Kantesh Balani, dean of resources and alumni at IIT Kanpur, signed the agreement in the presence of Purshottam Sutwala, Gopal Sutwala's brother, Sandeep Verma, professor-in-charge at the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology, and S Ganesh, IIT Kanpur's deputy director. According to the institution, the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology is a project of IIT Kanpur for advancements in healthcare and medicine. Gopal Sutwala, an IIT Kanpur alumnus, stated: "I wanted to promote the treatment of the destitute. I am pleased that a project of this nature is being developed in Kanpur and needs to be encouraged.
