From May 31 to June 2, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur will conduct Management Education and Research Colloquium (MERC), North India's most prominent academics' convention. Over 300 scholars from top universities, including IITs, IIMs, JNU, AMU, BHU, and DU, will present their work in competition for the best research paper awards.

MERC 2024 intends to encourage doctoral students to conduct research by providing a venue for them to share their findings with peers and professionals.

The conclave will also include workshops on research methodology and panel discussions on interdisciplinary research and sustainability.

Professor Somnath Chatterjee, convenor of MERC, said, "We are extremely excited to host MERC, especially with the huge increase in the number of research projects. Last year, we received 300 applications. This year, the number surged to 720 this year while 300 of them were selected."

The top three research articles will be awarded Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 15,000, respectively. Keynote speakers include Jai Advani, PwC India's Managing Director, and lecturers from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and the University of Colorado Boulder in the United States.

"With a significant 50-60% of the applicants being women, the event underscores the growing diversity in research. MERC's theme focuses on making micro, small, and medium enterprises sustainable, covering a wide range of subjects such as Organisational Behavior and Human Resource (OBHR), IT, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Strategic Management, and Communication", added Professor Chatterjee.
