Reschooling : “Life Lessons that we can learn from Reminiscence of our School Life”

Reschooling

"Take pride in how far you've come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don't forget to enjoy the journey."—Michael Josephson

The years are flying by and our wonderful time together is disappearing. All it does is fill our minds with a ton of memories. Ever wonder what life would be like without them? Our school years are the most valuable period of our lives, and this is something to cherish for a lifetime.

Our school years are a rich tapestry, woven with memories big and small, from the first hesitant steps into the classroom to the bittersweet farewell. This journey, from chalkboards to cafeterias, is not just about academic milestones. It's about the shared experiences that have moulded us into the individuals we are today.

School Assembly: Boon or Bane?

"It's not that I hate school. I hate waking up early in the morning."

Even though I now realise how crucial it was to learn patience and discipline, the early morning assembly back then felt more like a punishment. We need motivation today, and the assembly traditions of giving news, speeches and other activities merely make my day happier. Since most of us are probably working today, you can relate to the need for inspiration to get motivated in the morning before starting work. However, this pastime suddenly began to signify a lot in life. "Day is shown in the morning." Take the most significant possible action to start your day.

New Books: “Irreplaceable joy”

When I was in school, anything new was an adventure. I used to get my entire new book collection when school restarted after the vacations—such a mesmerising experience. That was most likely the first time I had ever planned anything. I couldn't stop thinking all night about my new books. My mom would help me cover them with gorgeous book covers and my favourite labels, on which I would write my name and the name of my new class. Obtaining new stationery, such as crayons, pencils, erasers and sharpeners, was indeed a great deal.

Though time and age have changed, you are the same person you were in the past because, believe it or not, small things can still make you happy.

New uniform: “I am turning older like my senior”

There is nothing that can replace the innocence we experienced in school. There is no more incredible feeling than receiving new uniforms. When you finally had the opportunity to wear full pants instead of just half pants, do you recall how wonderful it felt? It was then that you realised how much you were growing every day. Back then, the thrill of change was so exquisite, in contrast to now, when we find it difficult to accept such changes. Even though the situations differ, shouldn't our ideologies be the same?

School Tiffin: “Taste like Heaven”

I have never tasted food so good as it did from my friend's school tiffin. Oh, the feeling of superiority that comes from sitting at the last bench and secretly hogging 'Tiffin' during Math class. Food becomes instantly excellent in our hearts due to its excitement and fulfilment when we eat quietly, hiding our faces occasionally beneath benches and behind a friend's bench. Our teachers had caught us red-handed, but we never felt embarrassed about it—instead, we sought to keep my friend's identity a secret. A thirty-minute lunch break is a thousand minutes of bliss. We eat in less than 10 minutes to have time to play, chat, and run on the field.

We learned these skills together at school, from taking calculated chances to time management, and now it's time to apply them to other situations where fulfilment is the most important thing. Wherever we dine today, the joy and affection of eating it enhances its flavour. Thirty minutes of your life today may not be as structured as you did in your school time, so it is time to learn from your younger self.

Punishments: “Guilty pleasures”

My mum wakes me up to go to school, but she doesn't know that my favourite place to sleep is on the last bench."

The most significant power I had years ago was acceptance. I must have disrupted the lesson or forgotten my book, but I was never afraid to apologise to my teacher. Even if it's a short word, I said it anyway since I know I did something incorrectly. My teacher told me that God punishes children who lie; therefore, I never tried to hide my actions to avoid getting in trouble. How naive I was, oh! As a result, I quickly forget about it the next day and continue to be happy, as self-realisation helped me to discern between good and evil.

Suppose our mindset is the same now. Going past the errors and beginning with acceptance will be more straightforward. Errors are universal and can happen to everyone at any age, but self-realisation is the secret to avoiding them in the future. Because 'I' (the reader )still have so much to learn from you(the reader, too), I fell in love with the person I was in my earlier years.

School functions: “Tons of Happiness”

The entire year was spent engaging in various activities, such as sports and cultural events. Our favourite activity, the annual day, is a treasure trove of outcomes that isn't just for academics. Moments of success and failure are cherished with happiness, humour, and laughter. It used to be that my friend was happier than I was. My sports house root for me when I win because they don't understand selfishness or envy. Even though I had also competed, I hoped my friend would win the dancing competition and receive the gold medal she had dreamed of since last year. You think it ridiculous now that you realise what you did, right? However, we are now deluding ourselves.

Triumph is not a symbol of anything else but of completion. If you support your peers like you did previously, I'm sure you'll feel above and above the world.

Sports days: “School days may be over, but the innocence can last a lifetime”

Playing sports helps us become more physically and mentally free-spirited. Playing sports and never giving up are more important than winning. It allows us to exercise truthfulness, strengthens our inner selves, and teaches us the power of Unity. It is the moment when everyone on the squad cheers each other on, even if they didn't qualify for the rounds. The support is unwavering.

We shall gain more when we begin playing for ourselves than the trophy.

Friendship: “This is where friendships were formed and memories were made.”

"A friend who understands your tears is much more valuable than many who only know your smile."

We first hear the word "friend" in the context of school. It is believed that the friendships we create in school are the purest and most authentic form of kinship. The only reason for the relationship is innate comfort and emotion for one another. Your lifelong best buddy is the person we pick to share our thoughts and sit with on the same bench. Oh, is it that simple? We meet a lot of individuals during our educational journey, but not everyone can become best friends with someone we meet. Have you ever thought similarly?

Pure bonds are those that aren't manipulated by anything. This relation transcends feelings of inferiority complex, anger, jealousy, and envy. We are happy for those who overcome significant obstacles to success. We appreciate their accomplishments as we are aware of their origins. In the modern world, this phenomenon is uncommon. While we may feel good about someone we've known for a long time, not everyone shares this sentiment.

Regain the qualities we used to have. Friendship is a precious gift that enables us to share our innermost thoughts and emotions and relish life's highs and lows.

All things first!

The first time I used my rainbow umbrella, the first time we were around the classroom during science class busy thinking about the science wonders, and the first time we took a class picture after moving to a new class. What a great delight! These instances have no significance in today's rapidly expanding world, yet they reflect your experience. How is it possible for us to forget who we are when our environment changes, yet our minds continue to expand rather than shrink?

Considering these little adventures, we realise we cannot get this kind of entertainment in this materialistic world. Since everything has gotten so perfect these days, Generation G children will not comprehend the emotions of those golden days. Something is only attractive to people when it is well beyond their means.

Everybody has some blemishes or flaws, which makes us unique. Learn from your younger self, communicate gratitude, and enjoy the little things in life. You'll feel at ease as usual.

School bus: “Window seats and silly fights”

When you suddenly remember the times when you felt like an extraordinary person sitting in the school bus window seat, you must be laughing uncontrollably. As time passes, we realise that the things that held such significance for us in the past now have very little value.

Humans are naturally opportunists, but that shouldn't be augmented with negative means. It would help if you made your own decisions since thinking back on the past should be more about learning than feeling guilty.

Birthdays: Never missed school on birthdays did you?

Papa bought those adorable candy jars last night. You have been dreaming all night about showing off your new birthday dress to your friends since you have to wear your favourite tomorrow. Your friend would be just as delighted to go with you to every class so that you can hand out candies. Once again, the evening is full of surprises. Mom makes your favourite 'kheer' and throws a cute party for you. The platter of candy, snacks, soft drinks, and pieces of birthday cake is full.

Are birthdays celebrated the same way they were in the past, or is there more snobbery nowadays?

Notable life events should be used to make memories you will always treasure rather than live up to social norms.

Exams: The first solo race in life!

These were the days when we started thinking about the future outcomes. The exams we have faced throughout are not just tests but also mirrors of our ability to bounce back from setbacks. The results of the exams are never a problem; they are tests that help us understand our levels of understanding. They have taught us to experience perseverance and face adversity.

The vast memory lane is a treasure trove where we begin to shed old beliefs and delve into our untapped potential. Let our true essence shine through our actions, just as in our school days. We are all on a journey of self-discovery.

"That is what learning is. You suddenly understand something you have understood all your life but in a new way."

                                                                                               -Doris Lessing
