The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has announced the start of the second batch of its certificate programme on the foundations of electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure. This project aims to address the growing demand for specialist and qualified individuals in the Indian automotive industry, which is undergoing a transition to electric vehicles.
The certificate programme, tailored to the context, is intended to fulfil the dynamic and evolving demands of this emerging sector, aligning with the Government of India's policies and activities aimed at catalysing another green revolution.
Projections show that the country's EV market would increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 49 percent from 2022 to 2030, with annual EV sales potentially exceeding one crore units in 2030, resulting in the creation of five crore direct and indirect jobs by the same year.
The five-month, 55-hour online learning curriculum is aimed at mid-career professionals, providing them with the necessary skills to prosper in the fast-expanding electric vehicle market.
The programme will be offered in Direct-to-Device (D2D) mode using the cutting-edge Interactive Learning (IL) platform, and it will involve a one-day immersion at the esteemed institution. Following graduation, students can pursue professions as battery engineers, charging infrastructure specialists, power electronics engineers, hardware engineers, and so on.
